15-year-old Moses Snow is a shining star from Decatur, Texas.  He started performing at the Dove Creek Café during their Tuesday night Elvis Impersonator shows. His dance moves, facial expressions and eye contact are equal to that of the young, up and coming Elvis Presley.

Moses’ tribute or interpretation of Elvis’ music is phenomenal!  Audiences are routinely blown away by the power of his performances, that take you back to 1950’s in Memphis, Tennessee.

When Elvis’ raw talent hit the radio, kids got excited and into Rock ‘n’ Roll music.  Moses has a similar kind of raw talent along with a sweet, loving, pure personality much like the young Elvis.  Moses can melt your heart when he sings.

He is forever thankful for meeting an ETA (Elvis Tribute Artist) named James L. Wages, who gave him the opportunity to start singing in his shows.

Only two years into his career as an Elvis Tribute Artist, Moses is considered by many to be the future of the ETA world with a very bright career ahead. I had a chance to catch up with the young performer last week about his experience so far.

Alan Mercer:  Moses, the obvious first question is how did you get into Elvis?

Moses Snow:  I got into Elvis from the Karaoke channel about two years ago. It was around Christmas time and I was in choir at my middle school. I thought since I sing, I should do some Christmas karaoke. I found ‘Blue Christmas’ in the style of Elvis Presley and I started singing it and discovered I really loved the music, the style and the genre he picked like Blues and Gospel. So, I started looking up Elvis more and fell in love with singing his music.

AM:  Was that the first time you had ever heard of Elvis?

MS:  I knew the name Elvis, since I was little, but we were never really huge fans. I just knew Elvis was a guy in a jumpsuit.

AM:  What did you think when you learned more about him?

MS:  I learned he was an amazing artist.

AM:  Are you familiar with all his work yet?

MS:  I wouldn’t say I’m familiar with all his work. I’m still learning lots of new stuff about him.

AM:  Two years of research isn’t that long.

MS:  No, it’s not that long. Elvis did so many things throughout his years. It’s still a learning process for me. It’s going to take many more years to know a lot about him.

AM:  What’s your favorite thing so far about Elvis?

MS:  There is so much about him that is so amazing. Probably the one thing that really stands out about Elvis was that he was so genuine. He always stuck to his roots, from the very beginning until the very end. Even though he was a huge artist, he was still personable and genuine. He was never a character on stage, he was just him.

AM:  Is your personal style inspired by Elvis?

MS:   I would say my personal style is inspired by Elvis but when I’m on stage I just try to wear what Elvis would wear.

AM:  Do you have a costume designer, or do you find them yourself?

MS:  I find them myself. There are websites and companies that specifically make clothes just like Elvis wore. It’s great when I find them, but often I just wear things that are inspired and very similar to the styles he would have worn.

AM:  Have you found your life path with performing as an ETA?

MS:  Yes, totally. At first it was a hobby. It’s a career where I’m at now.

AM:  And it’s a career you want to keep going?

MS:  Yes, as long as I can keep doing this, it’s totally what I want to do.

AM:  You’ve already done a lot of Elvis events and done a lot of traveling, correct?

MS:  Yes sir, I have traveled a lot over the Texas area, but I’ve also been to Mississippi, Tennessee and Georgia. I’m going to Germany next year. I’m performing on a cruise.

AM:  You are very fortunate to have found this niche.

MS:  Oh yeah, very blessed. It would have never been the first thing to come to my mind before I knew about Elvis.

AM:  You probably didn’t even think of a career before, did you?

MS:  (Laughing) I was a kid! I wasn’t thinking of a career, I was thinking about video games.

AM:  Now you are so busy.

MS:  It’s turned out to be all that’s going on. God has really blessed me with so many new people and new things. It’s wonderful.

AM:  So, if all your dreams come true, what will they be?

MS:  My only dream for this, is that I reach enough people to touch them and bring back the memory of Elvis.
